Don't Ignore These When Building Affiliate Marketing Websites

The following article is one of a series of articles which focus on Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing. All of the articles are based on real experiences and research done over twenty years as a personal and business coach. They are also written in response to questions which I have been asked as well as address common challenges that people have with affiliate marketing, article marketing, internet marketing or running an online business in general. I sincerely hope that you find the following information of value. One idea, one tip, one clue can make all the difference.

Don't Ignore These When Building Affiliate Marketing Websites

There are some myths in affiliate marketing, which attract a lot of people to it believing they are true. First is they think managing an online business is easy and second, they think that one can make a fortune through online marketing in an instant. Probably not even 10% of those who are into affiliate marketing became rich overnight.

There may be some who fortunately achieved overwhelming success in just a short span of time after setting up an affiliate program, but not a majority of them can confidently say they only had luck. Anyone who is successful in this kind of business would say he worked hard to get to where he is right now. Success in affiliate marketing takes time and hard work, but it's worth it.

If you are planning to start an affiliate program, one of the things you have to consider is having your own website, not just an ordinary website but a professional looking one. How do you build an affiliate marketing website? What are the easy steps to build one? First, you must have already decided on the theme or niche of your website. It would be better if you already have an idea what products or services to promote as this would help you plan the design and lay-out of your web pages. The next thing to do is to choose a domain name and get it hosted.

The domain name is a unique name used to label the actual address of your website on the Internet. In deciding what domain name to register, look into the type of products you are endorsing and the theme of your site. Having the right keywords in your domain name would give you better chances of drawing more visitors to your website. Also, choose a top level domain or extension, such as .com because it is more popular. In selecting your web host, consider the security of servers and up time guarantees.

Now, you can start creating your webpages. Don't be disheartened when you know a little in this field. There are page generation tools and fast launch sites available online; you just have to search for them. Countless online sources could help you build an affiliate marketing website, though you might need time to study and learn the whole process. This is one of the reasons why your site or the products you are going to promote must match your interest.

Building your marketing website for the first time would be a lot more fun if you know very well the theme of your site. If you don't have time to make your own website, you can use templates or purchase readily available websites. The latter, however, is a more expensive option.

========SIDEBAR========

Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing in general isn't as easy as many would have us believe. I fully understand (through my own experiences) that it is a lot easier said than done. However, you are here, right now, because you have a desire to improve your business, grow your business, and be more successful. These articles are here with the sole intention of helping you to make the whole process a lot easier.

======END SIDEBAR======

Creating an affiliate website on your own would be cheaper and more interesting. In the process of building your website, you may also increase your knowledge in Information Technology and the use of computers, softwares and the Internet. As you educate yourself in these fields, you are increasing your advantage against other affiliate marketers.

It helps a lot, though, if you already know the basics in web page development like programming languages and graphics softwares because you can make your site extra corporate-looking, more convenient to use or easier to navigate. Furthermore, if you are knowledgeable and skillful in this area, you can already concentrate more on the content of the page rather than the design.

The key to draw visitors to your website is to have high quality content; thus, the next thing you must pay attention to in building your marketing website is this. There may be several other factors that contribute to the success of your affiliate marketing site, but a good content tops the list. This is precisely the reason why users choose to enter your site.

They want to get information and so when they don't find it, they would definitely go elsewhere. Write interesting articles related to your theme as this would make them frequent your site. If you have already looked for affiliate programs that complement your site, add links to the business sites and other very good informative sites. Links contribute to how well you will be listed in major search engines as well.

Also, create pages for the products you are endorsing, but don't just promote the products by putting hyped-up ads. Keep your readers interested by injecting lots of relevant and useful information. This would make them click the link to the business site and buy the product. Remember that no good content means no frequent visitors, no sales and ultimately, no commission.

Make your site simple yet not without a touch of class in order to make it appear more of a business website rather than a personal website. This would be pleasing to the eyes and more interesting to browse. To help you with the design, you can check some successful online stores to get an idea on how you can make your site look better.

Make sure you don't place too many banner ads since these could distract some site users; and thus, instead of clicking your ad, they might just leave your site and look for other interesting websites. After all, banner ads are not the only means of advertising your products. Now your website is complete, submit its URL to major search engines to increase your traffic.

Grow from where you started. Learn about use of keywords for search engine optimization and apply them in your content. Update your site regularly or add new webpages. Make sure to inform your prospects about the latest updates in your site. You can use newsletters to accomplish this. The Internet offers a huge source of information about just anything, make use of it.

Continue to educate yourself on how to improve your website and soon you'll find yourself successful in affiliate marketing.

NOW is the time!

O.K. you have read the article. Now is the time for action. Without action, this article adds no value whatsoever to your affiliate success. But remember, without action, you cannot blame this affiliate marketing article or any article for that matter. So, take action NOW.

Even if only one piece of advice, one piece of information, one tip makes a difference, then the whole article has been worth it for all of us.

NOW is the time!

XsitePro Versus Site Build It (SBI), Which One Should You Choose?

When the often discussed debate between XsitePro and Site Build It surfaces in forums, it seems everybody has their own opinion and naturally only they are right. SBI'ers (as the Site-Build-It fans are called) are very, very passionate, and this is due to the "internal" focus they have. Everything is in one place for them and they stick together.

Nothing against the SBI club, they get good results and have a real community. They are loyal to the brand.

I don't own Site Build It, even though I gave it strong consideration, and I will outline why in just a moment.

I respect you need to make your own decision about what is the right website development tool for you, so I have outlined some of the important facts to consider based on my own opinion and the topics I have seen raised in other places, all of which helped me make my decision, (Buy XsitePro).

SiteBuild It - A summary

Site Build It (SBI) is an excellent product and has very good results for many users. Ken Evoy is a pioneer of the internet marketing revolution and produces some of the best and most sensible information available. His MYSS2002 ebook (make your site sell 2002) was extremely well priced and crammed full of excellent content. (the ebook is now free).

He teaches the vital marketing method of CTPM, Content, Traffic, Pre-sell then Monetize. This is golden information and worth considering for any website.

Site Build It is a total package. It includes (among other things) domain name, hosting, website interface (online), link exchange facility, research tools, "point and click" sales letters and forum support all for an annual fee (currently $299).

Site Build It would suit a total beginner who has no wish or intention to learn each discipline beyond a standard level, therefore, whilst many Site Build It websites achieve high traffic and rankings based on the "content is king" mantra it does have user limitations.

If you intend to create more than one website and have maximum scope for flexibility you need to consider several important factors before you make a choice.

Your level of skill and likelihood of improving your competency level will determine if XsitePro is right for you

XsitePro (XSP) will allow you to do far more if you plan to develop your internet technical skills because you can start off using WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) functions then incorporate HTML and CSS disciplines later. SBI is more about making an online business and less about making websites.

Your financial situation and the amount of investment you are willing to commit to your online business is important to consider

XsitePro plus a domain name, plus hosting purchased separately will cost less than annual Site Build It fees. This is especially true when you create more and more websites. If you have one website, the annual cost of SBI might seem well priced at $299. To buy XsitePro and a domain name and hosting will cost about the same.

XsitePro $197 Domain name $9 Hosting $72 Total $278

However when you want multiple websites as part of your business model, things change.

For example, 50 websites would cost for one year using individual components:

XsitePro $197 Domain names $450 Reseller account hosting $348 Total $995

versus for 50 Site Build It websites.

($299 x 50) Total $14,950

Big difference right?

Assuming you get a special deal on SBI websites, even if it was half, $7475 would still be expensive.

Even if you went on a buying "rampage" and bought some highly effective "extra" tools such as expensive keyword research tools, graphics tools, Autoresponders etc, you would not meet the same expense level.

You might be able to make a great income with one site. Good luck if you can, I like to have different sites in different niches. Once you set one up, it is another income stream. I like lots of income streams so that when things change, you are protected.

XsitePro lends it self to the innovator and the creator. You will see why soon

SBI has the following tools included, so it is worth reviewing them here and we can see if XsitePro has an answer to it:

Brainstorming and researching tools - These can be found for free if you use well known keyword selection tools such as niche bot classic.

Web/html/graphic design - XsitePro has built in templates, and templates can be created using photoshop or you can buy them from membership site or have them designed from $80 - $450. (You would not need to spend $2000).

Hosting of your site - This can be sourced very cheaply in the USA from $6 per month will get you excellent bandwidth allowances.

Domain name annual renewal - you can get top level domain names for $9 per year at large domain name companies.

Submit unlimited URLs to Search Engines (includes Google Sitemaps, Yahoo! Mass-Submit, and MSN Graphic-Challenge) - You can submit your sites for free, or you can use a submission service, or you can use the submission features of programs like SEO Elite, Axandra IBP or Submit Equalizer. XSP comes with sitemap creator and is Google compatible with XML format. Some SEO experts suggest you should NOT submit your website, it is better to have it found using SEO techniques.

Ranking Reports for Search Engines - You can use free tools for this and get toolbars for the browser Firefox which have SEO features. Other paid programs have excellent features to do this.

Unique Keyword search reports for Search Engines - there are many free tools to do this, and also excellent paid ones.

Search engine optimization - this is built in to XsitePro with an SEO wizard and the way the site is structured.

Community Tips and Resources - XsitePro has an excellent forum with a good knowledge base. Some XsitePro users have even produced tips sheets such as the XSP Cheat Sheet.

4 Traffic HQs- There is plenty of free "how to build traffic" information on the internet. Look up articles at www.Goarticles.com.

Pay-per-click research and mass-bidding - Pay Per Click is one of the most essential skills to learn, you are best to learn from an expert like Perry Marshall and you will be glad you did.

Click-in and Click-through Analysis - Good web hosts have web statistics (webalizer and AW Stats in C Panel). You can also set up tracking for your campaigns by using AXROI or adminder.

E-zine Subscription and Delivery - I recommend any internet business consider using a professional service like Aweber for mail delivery and ezines. You get the autoresponder with excellent HTML templates and automated mail delivery with very high delivery rates.

(E-Newsletter, including SpamCheck and OpenRate) - Aweber covers this.

Value Exchange - there are many free forums to exchange with others (Warrior Forum).

Form Building software - form software can be downloaded for free, or pay $10 for standard form building software.

(Automated Forms and Sequential Autoresponders) - see above

Link Fix It! (No more bad links!) - Xenu link sleauth does this for free.

Full E-mail/webmail With Spam 'n Virus Blast It! - Your hosting interface C Panel has an easy mail creation function. As many emails as you like. Pop 3 them into your mail client (outlook) or use webmail.

Monetize - You can find affiliate programs yourself. Type your keyword + Affiliate into your search engine to find your own products.

Private Forums - Try Warrior Forum and the XsitePro Forum instead

Action Guide/Video Guide/"Guru-in-your-ear" help - There is plenty of information available on the internet, there are enough Gurus out there.

Next up you need to consider your creativity and desire to control your own projects

XsitePro is clearly far more flexible for long-term project choice and you have a support network for ongoing assistance.

Both XsitePro and SBI have forums and support including passionate users.

The supplier of your chosen "system" and their level of competency.

I recommend you buy from an enthusiastic and competent affiliate who offers bonuses of value with integrity. Both SBI and XsitePro have enthusiastic affiliates who focus on selling the product.

Some of the main advantages of XsitePro

XsitePro is a stand-alone software program for building (marketing oriented) websites. It is desktop based so you can have an offline back-up, and make changes offline for easy upload (speed). This especially suits dial-up operators.

XsitePro is particularly fast to learn and use compared to more expensive web building programs such as Dreamweaver and Frontpage.

The advantages of XsitePro are not just speed and ease of use. XsitePro allows a novice web marketer the ability to build in SEO oriented content by prompting certain disciplines. The result is, XsitePro websites tend to produce more Search Engine friendly pages (which brings traffic once indexed in major search engines) than free website builder programs.

The other major advantage of XsitePro for an internet marketer is the ability to store affiliate details (including login and password storage), create Adsense blocks and make redirect pages with ease. This drastically reduces web set-up time and means changes "on the fly" are possible as affiliate programs change and pages are added.

XsitePro allows you to copy an entire website and change main keywords, colours, page layout and publishing details so that you can quickly create an entirely new website for another market within hours. The advantage of this is you can move into any market as soon as you need to and catch the benefit of being in the right market at the right time.

XsitePro users are able to share templates with each other and export into other web programs such as Dreamweaver. Many very experienced webmasters still create websites in XsitePro first then export to Dreamweaver later for very advanced changes because XsitePro is so much faster. This is better than SBI because of the compatibility with professional design standards.

XsitePro owners are able to build websites for anyone either free or paid and then upload to any server once the FTP details are known. As many businesses are recognizing the opportunity of being online as print media becomes less utilized by consumers almost every small business, consultant, medium business and service provider is a potential customer for your website creation services.

XsitePro at $197 is by far the most cost-effective tool in a web marketers tool kit

So in summary, if you are prepared to roll up the sleeves a little and commit to learning some of the core disciplines of the internet marketing skill set, you will be better off doing it yourself and building up your business with specialized components rather than the "all in one" approach.

Web designing is the art & process of creating web sites for online information

Web designing is the art and process of creating a single Web page or entire Web sites and may involve both the aesthetics and the mechanics of a Web site's operation although primarily it focuses on the look and feel of the Web site - the design elements.

Web designing is the art and process of combining individual elements of design (lines, shape, texture, color, text) into a pleasing arrangement. Some of the aspects that may be included in Web designing are graphics and animation creation, color selection, font selection, navigation design, content creation, HTML/XML authoring, JavaScript programming, and ecommerce development. Web designing is a form of electronic publishing.

Designing a website is defined as the arrangement and creation of web pages that in turn make up a website. A web page consists of information for which the website is developed. A website is a collection of information about a particular topic or subject or company.

There are five areas that cover the major features of Web designing: 1. Visuals: This shows to the display layout used in a site. Generally the design is formed using HTML, CSS, or even Flash and may consist of graphic elements either as decoration or for navigation. The visual aspect of the site is the most obvious aspect of Web designing, but it is not the sole or most important aspect. 2. Content: This refers the form and organization of a site's content. This can range from the way text is written to how it is organized, presented, and structured using a markup technology such as HTML. 3. Technology: Technology in this context more commonly refers to the various interactive elements of a site; particularly those built using programming techniques. Such elements range from client-side scripting languages like JavaScript to server-side applications such as JavaScript programming, while the use of various core Web technologies such as HTML or CSS fall into this category. 4. Delivery: The speed and reliability of a site's delivery over the Internet or an internal corporate network are related to the server hardware/software used and to the network architecture employed. 5. Purpose: The basic purpose of website is transmitting information to an end user. Web design attempts to transmit information in a user friendly way. But there are a few extra extents of web designing. The web site that exists, often related to an economic issue, is arguably the most important part of Web designing. This element should be considered in all decisions involving the other areas.

How To Create A Stunning Drop Capital Effect On Your Web Pages

How To Create A Stunning Drop Capital Effect On Your Web Pages

Drop Capitals are frequently used in many newspapers, books and magazines in the offline world. You will frequently see the large capital letter sinking down into the first paragraph of articles, stories and chapters in the majority of publications you come across.

The drop capital gives the page a nice finishing touch, and certainly adds a more professional looking feel.

Online, the drop capital looks just as good on web pages as it does in print. The only drawback is that you can easily get the whole effect wrong, and end up with a less than appealing result.

The wrong way...

When most people attempt to create a drop capital effect on a web page, they usually just enlarge the first letter by a few font sizes and make it bold.

If you do this on your own web page, you will notice that instead of a 'drop' capital effect, you end up with an odd looking letter which sticks up above the rest of the paragraph, and just looks out of place.

The right way...

There are essentially, two parts to creating the drop capital effect.

Step #1 -

You need to create a drop capital image using some graphic software.

You can use any standard piece of graphic software like Paint Shop Pro, Fireworks, or Photoshop.

The drop capital image should ideally be big enough to drop down between 2-4 lines of text, depending on your preference.

You should ensure that the top of your drop capital image is level with the top of the text next to it. The bottom of the image should also be level with the bottom of the lowest text next to it.

This is really the hardest part of creating a drop capital effect. It can be very easy to make the image just a bit too big, or a bit too small. You may find that it will take a bit of trial and error to make it look just right. However, the extra effort will pay off, as the end result will be worth waiting for.

One thing to note: As with any image, a drop capital image can slow a web page if the file size is too big. To help reduce the file size you should save it as a '.gif' image. For even better results you should try to optimize the '.gif' image as well by reducing the amount of colors being used.

Step #2

This step is the easiest bit?

Once you have created the drop capital image, all you have to do now is to insert it into your web page. You just add the image to the web page in the same way that you would with any other image on your page.

When you place it at the beginning of the paragraph, make sure you remember to delete the first letter of the normal text. Otherwise you will end up starting the paragraph with two of the same letter.

Align the image to the left

Initially, you will notice that the drop capital image just sits on top of the first line, instead of dropping down into it. Not for long!

All you have to do now, is align the image to the left, and you will see it drop down instantly into the paragraph.

If you are using a web page editor to create your web pages like Microsoft FrontPage or Macromedias Dreamweaver, aligning the image to the left is pretty easy.

In FrontPage:

Select the drop capital image by left clicking it once. Then click on the align to the left short cut icon in the top menu bar. Alternatively, you can select Format, then Position from the top menu. In the pop up window, select Align Left under Wrapping Style.

In Dreamweaver:

Select the drop capital image by left clicking it once. Then in the properties window, click on the arrow in the drop down menu next to Align, then select Left

If you are using a different web page editor, you should have a similar align option in the menu area. Alternatively, you edit the HTML code directly yourself. Just add the following command in between the brackets of the image tag:

align="left"

Thats literally all there is to it!

If you have multiple pages on your website, youll probably going to need to create a number of different drop capital images for each letter of the alphabet. The extra effort will be worthwhile as you will end up with a much more professional looking website.

Making Good Websites that Stand Out

Websites, there's literally billions of them out there in cyber-space. How many of them do you go to and just think this is boring, bland, or hard to use? It seems like too many to mention. So what makes a good website? I reckon it's about interaction. You've got to make the visitor interested. You've got to grab their attention. Many sites use plenty of bright and shiny gimmicks to attract you, but once you make it through to the content of the site it's just not worthy. A good site uses easy navigation, relevant content, and interactive media like comments and message boards. If you're fortunate, whoever builds your site may even have a few tricks up their sleeves to make it really fun with sound, video, and other interactive fun stuff.

Do you want people to come to your site and then tell their friend and family about it? Do you want to have huge amounts of visitors? Do you want to succeed in making your dreams come to fruition on the Web? Make your website exciting! It might be easier said than done, but there are people around whose job it is to construct and design sites for a living. If you can afford it, go for the best. How great is it when you come across a site that has some special feature that you've never seen elsewhere? Isn't it great when you find a site that relates to one of your interests that is simple and easy to get to the information you want? If you want to have people to come back again and again, you've got to keep updating the content to keep it fresh and interesting. Have a way for people to communicate with yourself and others who are into the same things. E.G. Forums, message boards and comments. The aim is to catch the 'viewer's' interest. A lot of sites just look like giant advertisements and you have to search for the needle in the haystack to find out what the actual site is for. I know advertising is a way of making money, but if you want your site to have an authentic, respectable atmosphere that exudes a feeling of integrity, you better be careful. People are becoming wary of this consumer driven, mindless attack at the average civilian's wallet. Some people will automatically leave a site if a bunch of commercials pop-up on the screen. Pop-ups, don't even make me go there? So, the aim of the game is to make a site that offers the public to be part of the action as well as being a source of knowledge or information that is in demand. A simple to navigate, good 'feel', and if possible-innovative site is the means to becoming the popular Internet magnate you've always dreamed of becoming. Another important fact is the idea of 'you'. Your website is a chance to put your identity out there in the world. Be yourself. If you try to appeal to an audience in a way that doesn't reflect your true self, you're destined to fail. Be honest and speak from your real perspective on life. Give it to us from the heart.
